I speak in English, but I dream in Spanish. From birth to the age of fourteen, I would wake up to the sound of vallenato, the folk music of my native country, Colombia. I grew up in a small town called Villeta (Little Village) where I lived with my abuelita, while my mamitraveled in search of a better life for all of us. Since then, my journey has defined who I am and gives me a unique perspective on what it means to be an immigrant, a woman, and an artist. I recently graduated from St. John’s University earning a Bachelor of Science in Television & Film Productionwith a minor in Dramatic Arts and International Studies. As an actor and filmmaker, I aspire to tell stories that often go unheard but are so crucial to the creation of a new narrative in today’s entertainment industry.
As an actor, I reflect upon my own experiences and surroundings to bring forth complex and dynamic performances. I have had the opportunity to be an integral part of a variety of plays and peer-produced films. My most recent theatrical performance was in Arden Everywhere, directed by Jessica Bauman. The play re-imagines Shakespeare’s “As You Like It” as a story about refugees. It explores themes of resilience, reconciliation, and love by depicting the beloved comedy from a different perspective but with the same fundamental human drive: love and belonging.
As a filmmaker, I channel my vision and passion for visual expression to both tell and pass down stories that add to that new narrative. I recently wrote, directed, and co-produced my thesis film, Incubus. The film is currently being submitted to festivals, but I would be happy to share it with you via a private link. In addition, I currently work as a freelancer covering social events and creating online content.
I bring a cultural perspective in all of my art based on my experiences growing up in Colombia, adapting to the American culture, and becoming a global student. As I continue to evolve as an artist, I want to work with people who want to make art happen. Please do not hesitate to contact me for any work opportunities and/or artistic collaborations.
